The world contained in a crystal tear

inspired by the saying..'' the world is contained in a grain of sand''

A single teardrop, which falls,
Is to a grieved heart, so much more
A single teardrop, which falls,
Holds within, a universe of truth and lore
The sharp, sudden pain, which brings the tear,
Is sharper still, due to sweetness remembered,
Lost forever in corridors of time, so the heart fears
The image of separation, which brings the tear,
Is magnified, deriving significance beyond itself,
From soft whispers of eternal belonging, so long ago,
In the ear
The crystal tear, which shimmers so brightly thus,
Shines so, with memories of us
Memories of watching, the moon and the stars,
Now becoming, the wind blown dust
The crystal tear, which glitters, shattering on the floor,
Shatters the more loudly, as it reverberates,
In the heart’s now empty hall
As feelings of love and tenderness,
Now becoming, a searing sense of bitterness
The world is not just contained, in a grain of sand,
But is more the so expressed, within that crystal tear,
Which I sought to capture in vain, in the palm of my hand,
A universe once, now shattering,
Beyond the flailing hand

The world contained in a crystal tear
